Established in 1976

The Liquor Barn is family owned and operated and we want to thank you for taking time to get to know us better—our family has been serving folks in the western metro area for over 50 years. Jack Yungner opened shop in 1976 after retiring from Schweigert Meats. “I wanted to own my own business and the thought of working in a small town offering folks good prices and great service appealed to me.”

In 1979, after graduating from Mankato State University, his youngest son, Mike came to work with Jack. Mike took over the business when Jack decided it was time to head south for the winters to play golf.

Mike believes that when you walk through the door of the Liquor Barn—you should feel instantly welcomed. “We are not a big box store or a chain- we like to create relationships with our customers so that we can learn what you like and make sure we have it when you need it.”
